Watch Out for Email Scams

Emails have streamlined our world, no doubt, but sometimes they also can pose a problem.  Recently, a number of residents have received emails asking for an immediate response which ultimately would take the form of “support” for the alleged sender.  The “support” is (no  surprise!) money, usually in the form of gift cards, which the recipient is told to purchase and forward to the sender’s address which, tellingly, is NOT the address of the supposed sender.  DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!  Residents should NOT respond with monetary support to anyone making an email request without confirming legitimacy by additional means.  Unless you can be sure any request genuinely comes from whom it claims to be from, delete the questionable email.  And, certainly, DO NOT send this unknown person any money.

Weathersfield Holiday Party Reminder

Gardening Session on Fall Planting

The Landscape Committee (Grounds Maintenance and Lot Appearance) is interested in offering educational gardening sessions in the fall and spring seasons to Weathersfield residents on specific topics regarding plantings.

Beginning in September 2019, we have scheduled a session on shrubs/bushes for fall plantings,  since October through December is the best time to plant shrubs.  Members of the Landscape Committee will be available to discuss a range of bushes/shrubs that are evergreen, deer resistant and suitable for our community.  They will also review resources available on-line to consult and the various nurseries offering shrubs/bushes that you can view.

Date:  Tuesday, September 24, 2019 – 2:00-3:30 pm

Location:  Shelia Creth – 587  Woodbury

If you plan to attend, please RSVP no later than September 18th, 2019 to Shelia.

Please Be Aware of FHA-designated Pathways

The Weathersfield Service Group and the FHA do not provide, designate, or maintain any cut-through paths behind any Weathersfield homes other than roadways and FHA designated pathways.  WSG is only bordered by FHA paths paralleling Village Way and Swim & Croquet.  Our community places high priority on respecting the rights of all residents to peace, privacy, and security.  If you are headed to (or from) the Smokehouse Mail Kiosk, and Weathersfield is in your plans, we encourage you to stay close to the paths on Village Way which have been specifically designated as an official trail by the FHA. That way you both avoid the natural hazards and respect the privacy of residents whose homes sit at the very edge of this section of our neighborhood.

Thank you so much for your help in alerting other walkers to this situation.

Spring Fling will Be Friday, May 10

Please bring an appetizer to share as well as your own chair to sit on.  Beer, wine and soda will be provided.

Residents will be getting a hand-delivered invitation around April 18th.  We would like to have responses from everyone no later than Friday, May 3rd.  We will accept cash only.  Please put your R.S.V.P. slip and money in the Weathersfield mailbox at the Swim & Croquet mail kiosk. The Weathersfield mailbox is on the east end of the kiosk (nearest Swim & Croquet) with the other Fearrington organization mailboxes.
